The company

AUNDE Portugal, formerly Karmann Ghia of Portugal was established in 1992, in Vendas Novas – Portugal.
For over 25 years the company has been supplying the automotive and aeronautical industries with high quality, competitive and innovative products.
AUNDE Portugal specialises in the production of leather, synthetic leather and fabric seat covers for cars, planes and trains.
Our specialised range of products includes armrests, handbrake handle covers, door panel trims, internal linings, insulation trim for sunroofs, covers for convertible cars and many more.
Our engineering and technical development services work directly with our clients.

On the 3rd of April 2017, AUNDE Portugal celebrated its twenty fifth birthday in Vendas Novas.
Each year, all the members of staff who have completed 10 years service with AUNDE Portugal are recognised in a special ceremony.

– Seat covers and interiors (headrests, door linings, armrests, etc.) Samples and small series in leather, synthetic leather and textiles for the following segments: Automotive, aviation and rail vehicles

– Flexibility in the project implementation and cost-oriented projects to ensure competitiveness.

– Continuous search for innovation and technic to ensure the product realization at the customers.

– Continuous training and brainstorming of employees to ensure a motivated clima and sustainability.

    1992

    AUNDE Portugal formerly Karmann Ghia of Portugal was set up in 1992 to meet the market needs of the automotive industry, with its specialised focus on the manufacture of covers for cars.

  • History

    1994

    Start of production of covers for the convertible Golf (Cabrio) project.

  • History

    1995

    September saw the beginning of a new era, with new products for the automotive industry and the production of covers in leather and fabric.

    1996

    Production of seat covers for the Ford Escort and for the aeronautical industry.

  • History

    1998

    Production increased significantly. Our product range was diversified and production volumes from existing lines went up (Golf, Vanpro (automotive) and British Midland (aeronautical).

    1999

    AUNDE Portugal moved further ahead with increased production of covers for the A208 and ISO 9002:1994 certification.

  • History

    2000

    The cutting sector was modernised and automated, following the acquisition of automatic cutting equipment. This increased cutting flexibility, reduced wastage rates and brought down costs.

    2001

    The company grew in terms of both production and investment. The audit for the renewal of the ISO 9001:2000 standard also took place during the year.

    2002

    The company expanded into new markets with its first exports to non-community markets.

  • History

    2003

    AUNDE Portugal had now 306 employees, thanks to new projects coming online. In this year the company obtained ISO 14001: 1996 certification and was the 16th company to be awarded EMAS II (regulation 761/2001 of the 19th of March) recognition. Work started on enlarging the premises.

    2004

    The factory was enlarged to 14,000m2 and the layout was restructured. The main aim of this was to achieve ISO/TS 16949:2002 certification.

    2005

    AUNDE Portugal introduces the SAP system. It obtained ISO/TS 16949:2002 certification. Over the year the production lines were reorganised.

    2007

    There was an appreciable increase in aeronautical projects.

  • History

    2010

    EMAS listing was renewed and the renewal audit took place for the ISO 9001:2008 e ISO/TS 16949:2009 standard. The number of models of aeronautical covers increased significantly.

    2011

    The environmental management system transited from EMAS to regulation no. 1221/2009, of the 25th of November 2009.

  • History

    2012

    New machines were acquired to streamline processes, improve quality and run new industrial processes using more modern technology.

Awards

Of 90 suppliers, AUNDE Portugal was one of three selected to win the “Recaro Supplier Award 2012”

Recaro Aircraft Seating was recognised by AIRBUS in 2011 and given a “GOLD” rating by Boeing. The “quality” of the products, the “flexibility” of supply and the “prompt delivery” to the RECARO client were all decisive in ensuring RECARO received these awards.

AUNDE Portugal would like to thank all its staff for their dedication and effort and the quality of their work, all of which went towards helping the company win this award.

Training
Body

AUNDE has been an accredited training body since 24/10/2007.

Since 05/09/2012, the company has been certified by DGERT – The General Directorate for Employment and Labour Relations – under its Training Body Certification Scheme, regulated by Ministerial Order no. 851/2010 of the 6th of September, ratified in Council of Ministers Resolution no. 173/2007 which approved the reforms for professional training and Decree-Law no. 396/2007, which establishes the National Qualifications Scheme.

The company is certified to provide internal training in the following areas of education and training:
